Love-letter box

I painted a sigarbox with gesso. Glued some chipboard pieces down and painted it again with gesso. Then i painted it red, think it was to light, put some black paint in the red and painted it again. I stamped the little harts around it with stazon. The man and woman are stamped on a doily (first sprayed with dylusions) and glued down. The little cupido is stamped on tissuepaper and glued down. When all was dry i used a little Inka Gold here and there.

greeting card – CAS?

Good morning all, Suzanne here.
I'm sharing a greeting card that I made along with a little gift for a coworker.

supplies used
face collage P7703
the face is the icon ... Q7712
striped feather F7714
from plate  NSPL77: 'the face is the icon of creation'

heat tool SHDIV06
acrylic inks

At first I applied a layer of gesso on a piece of kraft cardstock with rather bold brushstrokes. Then I made a little pool of water, added a drop of acrylic ink and moved it around while drying it with my heat tool. I repeated this with two more colours. When dry I stamped the face collage as my main image with stazon jet black, the feather and the text with dove grey as background images.
Finally I sew around the edges.
I've got a new sewing machine and am experimenting – good thing you didn't see me wrestling with it yesterday until I finally got those seams done ...

Thanks so very much for stopping by to have a look today and please don't forget our biweekly challenge over at the new de stempelwinkel challenge blog.

Have a great week everyone ...
Hugs, Suzanne xx

Hi and hello everyone.
Suzanne here with a (for me) long forgotten technique: resist with photo glue.

supplies used
from plate 148 silhouettes 1  PLATESW148
petre EI J1442
words from plate 167 large men PLATESW167
for the background sof the first TAG:
stamps from plate 54 prophecies PLATECP54

versamark inkpad TS-VM001
wild honey
peacock feathers
vintage photo
walnut stain
gesso black CH-HSP31383
mini ink blending tool RI-IBT40965
photo glue
various inpads from stazon
a little snippet of washi tape

First I roughly 'drew' some shapes onto TAGs from watercolour paper, circles on the first one, triangles on the second. When dry I used distress stains wild honey and peacock feathers with water on a craft sheet and wiped the TAGs around. The glue was then rubbed off and the main images added (the petre has been heat embossed and coloured with water soluble wax crayons) as well as the background stamps. Finally I stamped the words, distressed the edges and sponged them.
On the background were also used: a bottle lid with distress ink peacock feathers resp. black gesso applied with an old credit card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you'll have a wonderful week.
Hugs, Suzanne xx

I removed the calenderpart and painted the background with gesso white. Then i used distresspaint to make the colors. Let it dry. With the reliëf pasta and the stencils i made texture. Glued some "lace" down. When all was completely dry i stamped with stazon the images. Put the calender in place and enjoy the whole year.

Piece of the puzzle

067B - Reeds
068D - Reeds lg

I'm back this year with another format, jigsaw puzzlepieces instead of tags. Quite large pieces which can be used for a book or just as a decoration piece like I did. We sell them in various sets of 4.  Here you can find an example set.

For this piece I found inspiration on Pinterest. Don't you love browsing that site? I mainly got inspired by the colours, it just was the perfect combination to brush off those january blues. I started off with gesso (of course) followed by blending some blues and a little bit of white. I kept the top and bottom rather dark. Then I picked all sorts of paints in happy bright colours and applied them randomly at the top part with a fine brush,  Make sure they are at least semi opaque or it won't show.
I finished with a few colours applied from the top downwards in strings to create a feel of blossoms in the springtime.

I hope you liked my project and wish you a happy and colourful year! Today is the last day of our very first challenge so feel free to join in and come back tomorrow to read all about the new challenge!

trying new things

Stamp Used:

Morning all, thanks for stopping by. Mark here, I'm sharing another little swatch from my new book, Now this is more of an experiment, I find it really hard to doodle, I struggle to let lose enough and it always seems to look stiff rather than have a nice flow so I wanted to have more of a go at some zentagle. I painted a background and stamped my image using archival ink, I partitioned of the framed area and started my doodles with a fine line pen.
I sealed the surface with a satin varnish, and added some colour with my copics.
Thanks for stopping by xx

Good morning!
It's Suzanne here, today I'm sharing a notepad.
My son wished for a personalized notepad. He loves geckos - I don't own one yet but he said a chameleon is beautiful too and does just as well :-) - and his favourite colour is red.
So this is what I came up with:

cover - back:

supplies used
photographer with tripod SW R12085
stamps from plate 89 'microscopic artform plants 2' PLATESW89
'experiment' from plate 21 'science'  FASPLATE21
chameleon P9107NS

gesso 3024-32314
acrylic paints
watercolour pencils
Bind it All

I put a few drops of different red acrylic paints on a piece of white cardstock and spread it around with an old credit card. When this was dry a little gesso was lightly added in various areas.
The images were stamped, trying to achieve a look of some vegetation, and the chameleon was seated on a 'branch'. The background images were stamped with different colours of archival ink pads; unfortunately they faded a bit.
The cover has been laminated and holes were punched with the bind it all. I took sheets of paper from an ordinary cheap notepad, punched the holes and assembled everything into this notepad.

I hope you like this a little bit and please make sure to pay a visit to our new challenge blog were anything goes this fortnight. If you're chosen as the winner you can win a totally beautiful stamp.

Have a great day,
hugs, Suzanne xx

Bedroom door name plate

Good Morning,
It's the dragons turn today to share a project with you.
My youngest nephew is having his bedroom re-decorated this week,
his mum, (my sister) and I are making the stencils to decorate a couple of the walls,
so I thouhgt it'd be nice to have a matching name plate for the door.
I cut out the skull shape from white stamping card, stamped my first skull,
the one slightly in front of the 'm' in room, then stamped all the words made up of the tiles...using masks for the letters as I went along..and a mask for the skull in front of the 'm'.
when my words were done I filled in the rest of the plaque with stamped skulls.
Working on small areas at a time I didnt have to use to many masks at once.
Once all the stamping was finished I coloured it all in with a mixture of pens, ink and pencils.
Finally mounting it on black card.
I hope Ryan will like it when he see's it.
Don't forget to enter our DE-STEMPELWINKEL STAMPERS CHALLENGE... you still have a 4 days left to get a project done and linked up.
Thanks for visiting, BD x

A Little Heart

Stamp Used:
Ideas Muse CP Q491

Morning all, I hope you are all keeping well and the new year has been good to you so far?
Mark here, and I am still swimming through boxes so I have a simple quick little make today.
I started by Gessoing the wooden heart, Once dry I used Decoart's new media misters to spray my colour, leaving them to dry a little before adding my more colours.
The image was stamped using archival ink, as the heart is 3d I put my stamp onto an acrylic block and rocked the image from right to left to get most of the image around the curves, to fill in the gaps I partially inked the stamp using only the end of the filigree hair section. Using some sut and dry foam I distressed the edges with black archival ink and painted the back black ready to write a message on with a chalk pen.The whole heart was given a coat of satin varnish to seal and bring out the colours.

key board

Hi and hello out there ...
While others may enjoy Winter for several reasons I'm already looking forward to higher temperatures ... hasn't to be Summer exactly, but ... well, something like Spring? A little bit of colour at least, no dripping wetness all around?
Okay, anyway, I'm not here to complain about the weather but to share a key board I made inspired by thoughts mentioned above :-)

supplies used
chameleon P9107NS
stamps from plate 32 'at the beach' PLATECP32
city view FAS R1010
chicken wire SW R13040

stazon inkpads jet black and timber brown
original rust OR100G
wooden numbers

The house-shaped wooden board was painted with acrylic paint (the grass has been applied by using the edge of a cosmetic sponge and various shades of green), stencilled and stamped with different images and staz on ink pads. The images were also painted with acrylic paint.
To attach the key I found some bits and bobs from former 'projects' in my stash.

That's it for now, please stop by any other day to have a look. Thanks so verymuch for your visit - and please be sure to check our new challenge blog to join in with 'anything goes' for a starter :-)

Good Morning,
It's the 1st Monday of 2015 and everything is now getting back to normal,
kiddies go back to school later this week... they can't wait.
So... I ,the dragon am getting back to normal too.
Here I have a very small box to show you....
approx 6 x 6 x 3.5 cm
I sanded it really well ,
stamped and heat embossed with copper embossing powder on the outside,
I used distress inks to colour it,
then used versamark all around the edges and heat embossed again with copper powder.
For the inside i stamped onto card stock, heat embossed as for the box and coloured the images with the same inks.
I cut to fit and adhered them with book binders glue.
I added more embossing powder around the edges.
I hoped for a vintage well loved look ..... I think I may just about have achieved it.
Thank you for visiting...
please don't forget we have a CHALLENGE BLOG,

phone case

Hi and good day to you all ...
It's Suzanne here.

First of all I wish you all a happy, successful, creative, and most spplendid new year!!
Thank you so very much for accompanying us for another exciting year.

Today I'm sharing a phone case.
To alter it I decided to use some of my very first de stempelwinkel stamps: plate 20 'writers'. It's interesting to think back that way :-) I came across de stempelwinkel stamps when I saw them being used by a few of my very first stamping 'contacts' and I've been instantly hooked. Now I'm here and more than happy about it!

supplies used
background stamp register SW S14010
stamps from plate 20 'writers' PLATECP20

gesso 3024-32314
multi medium matte CH-HSP24927
stazon ink pad jet black and timber brown
distress stain tea dye

First I primed the (plastic) case with gesso and a thin layer of beige acrylic paint. On this parts of the background image 'register' were stamped and covered with a layer of different acrylic paints.
Edgar has been stamped separately on an old book page (that I went over with distress stain tea dye previously). When the paint was dry I stamped different images from the writers plate and glued down the main image with matte medium. I also used the matte medium to seal everything. This has been done with my fingers to avoid brush strokes.
In the end the holes were cleared very carefully with an x-acto knife.

Thank you ever so much for stopping by and having a look.
Please don't miss out on joining our brand new challenge that starts today. Anything goes :-)
Please have a look at our challenge blog to learn more about the rules.

Annnnnnd: there's one of Jetske's stunning stamps waiting for the winner.
See you there ....

Hugs, Suzanne xx

step by step, matte medium resist for your images.

Stamps Used: The Chap is from Grote Mannen Plate 167 and is available on his own as well.
The Gears are from Nuts And Bolts PP77
The Oriental Designs are from Flowers From Buddha Plate 76

Morning all, and Happy New Year to you from all of us here at De Stempelwinkel. Mark here, yes it's been a while but I am now back, living in chaos but finally moved in.
Now as you may have noticed, there is no calendar page this month, we thought we would try some new things this year, Im sure you all know about our new challenge blog if not here is the LINK, challenges start Friday, anything goes, and instead of the callendar pages the DT will be bringing you little step by step tutorials for various techniques, throughout the year. We should have something for everyone.
I picked up a little swatch booklet the other day and thought it would be great for this type of project.
I found some card that would cover my swatch, (its a mount board Tag album basically)The image was printed with memento ink as I used copics to add my colour.

I use masking and resist techniques so I can layer and build up my images and also my backgroud colours withouth losing and dirtying my main image.

The first way to protect your image is to just stamp the image again and fussy cut around it, I find it best to use thin copy paper.

Carefully position your cut out over your image and stamp away.

For the second masking technique you will need some matte medium. Make sure your ink is dry or give it a quick blast with the heat gun just to heat set it, then just simply paint over the image with a thin layer of Matte Medium. It's best to do two thin coats to make sure you get complete coverage of your image.
Once dry you can use your distress inks, dylusion sprays or any other water based inks and cover/blend over the whole piece.

Dont worry, all you need to do now is carefully start to wipe away the ink with a wet wipe, dont get the piece to wet, you just need enough to reactivate the nk and then wipe it away with a kitchen towel.

I used Festive Berries for my background colour, I also used a sun Burst Stencil with Black Soot distress ink and repeated the previous step.

My Swatch was glued to my swatch and cut to size, finished off with a coat of Ultra Thick Embossing Powder. This makes the colours really pop and adds a layer of stiffness and protection.

The Second swatch was done in exactly the same way.

My chap was stamped onto some dictionary paper, and my swatch was covered with a wood block alphabet print design paper. He was covered with matte medium and then inked with distress inks, a few Tim Holtz embellishments and some eyelets finish it off.

Thabks for stopping by, I hope you all have an amazing 2015 and I hope to see you here or over at the challenge blog soon xx. Head back tomorrow for something new from one of our DT members x
