I made a little book with a card. For the back ground of the card i sprayed with dylusions on craft paper. Let it dry and stamped the writing, pens and drops with stazon. For the faces i made background paper. I glued pieces of a book and a newspaper on a A4 copypaper. I riped a piece of and stamped the face and the tekst. Made accents with the sharpie on the drops and eyes. Two ribbons, black paper and vanilla paper and ready.

Crackle Mini Canvas Skull Silhouette

Stamps Used:
The Stars are from Prophecies Plate54
The Barbed Wire is from Hardware Findings 1 Plate159

Morning all and thank you for stopping by. Mark here and I have a mini box canvas
to share today.
I was thrilled to bits to see De Stempelwinkel stocking the new Media line Crackle Paste as I love this stuff and new I had to make something with it right away.
My canvas was sealed with matt medium, this is an important step with the crackle paste as it works best over a sealed surface. The paste was applied with a pallet knife and left to dry over night. The paste was then painted with Decoart's media fluids and their antiquing cream was added to highlight the cracks.
I also used the acrylic misters to create more texture and splashes of colour.
I used black gesso through a skull stencil and white gesso for the numbers, using gesso just gives a crisper finish to stencilling over a heavily textured surface.
I love the star stamp and using archival ink they were stamped in opposite corners to give some balance to the composition. The chit chat stickers were added to balance out the white numbers at the bottom and to give a theme or mood to the canvas.
The edges were painted black and the barbed wire was stamped using white paint.
I really wanted to use them to lift the side of the box canvas and add some interest where it's quite often over looked.
The whole canvas was then given a coat of satin varnish to help bring out the colours and give a nice sheen without being totally gloss. (sorry for the glare in s couple of pics)
Again thank you for stopping by. Head back tomorrow to see something new from one of our DT members.

And have you checked out our latest theme over on our CHALLENGE BLOG? the theme that has just started is Silhouettes.

dance like nobody's watching

Hi all, it's Suzanne and I'm sharing a card today. It may be an inspiration for you to join our challenge 'silhouettes' on our challenge blog.

brusho

mini mister RANMIS22701

For the background I dissolved a little bit of brusho in water (you really need just a tiny bit, the colour is very intensive), sprayed it onto a mat with the mini mister, and wiped a piece of cardstock through. Basically the technique known by many of you as the 'wrinkle free distress technique'. When dry the background images were stamped with distress inkpads (listed above), the woman and the feather/s (to make it look like she's dancing among feathers) at her feet were stamped with stazon.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
We'd love you to join our challenge 'silhouettes' on our de stempelwinkel challenge blog, hope to see your makes there :-)

Sunday, 1 March 2015

1st of the month... technique day.

Happy Sunday'
1st of March.... this year is passing by pretty quickly.
Its the dragons turn to share a technique with you for the first of the month,
so i've chosen to show you how i mask,
(masking is something I do regularly,it looks so much better than 'cutting and pasting' your stamped images) using either ''post it notes'' or better still
MEMOROL .... its the sticky bit of a 'post it note' on a roll...
the only place i've ever seen it is in the DE-STEMPELWINKEL SHOP.
Ok... here we go in photo's....
you'll need...
Stamp your image onto your card....remember that whatever you stamp 1st will be in the front of your collage/scene,
i always use a piece of card larger than i want my finished project to be,
stamp the same image onto a piece of the memorol
cut it out carefully just inside the outer edge...
cover your stamped image with your mask.... stamp your next image and stamp it again onto memorol,
cut it out carefully and cover the image with it...
 stamp your next image.
This Poe collage just used 3 stamps and 2 masks.
Remove the masks...cut to the size you want...
...then colour it...I used a mixture of alcohol pens, pencils and ink... then mounted it onto black cardstock.

Its really simple to do..... once you can use 2 masks on your project its easy to continue
stamping and masking.... using 9 or 10 masks to create a collage....
as i have below....
... just continue stamping your image and making a mask...
...covering your images as you go.
Although i stamped the 'eye ball' many many times to fill in the gaps in my collage,
I only needed 4 eyeball masks, I just kept moving them to the area i was stamping on.
Above is  the collage with all 10 masks on it....
below all the masks removed and laid beside it.
DON'T throw them away when you've finished.... keep them with the stamps so next time you dont have to make more.
Cut your collage to the size required..
colour it in your own way.... I made this look quite dimensional using  quite dark shadows....DONE!
Here are both projects together.... just for the fun of it.

altered paper box

Still going though all my crafty supplies I found a very ugly box and you know me - I just could not leave it that way. And not having used my beloved Alice stamps for a while and idea was quickly born.

I colored the box first with gesso and then used all kinds of distress inks for colors. Some water spritzing and I had the background.

Caution 3x3 Canvas Board

Stamps Used:
The Fish are from Animal Skeletons FASPLATE33

Morning and thanks for stopping by. Mark here and today I have a 3x3 canvas board, its about the same size as a coaster.
The back ground was painted using media fluids and acrylic misters. I built up the layers using translucent colours. I started with some stencilling and some Tim Holtz tape, I muted them by adding a watered down coat of gesso before adding my translucent colours.
The images were stamped in Archival Ink. I love the toxic green gold colour and thought the skeleton fish would look at home.
The 13 and Toxic were stencilled, first in an off white and then again in black to help the letters stand out.
The whole board was then finished with a coat of satin varnish.
Thanks for stopping by xx

and still more red ...

Hi all ... it's Suzanne here, sharing a puzzle piece.
I got a piece of light foamboard or whatever it is called and tried to alter it.

supplies used
stamps
from plate 77 'the face ...' NSPL77
puzzle pieces CP S575
chicken wire SW R13040

others
scarlet
terracotta
vermillion
sea green
turqoise
emerald green
distress paint barn door TH-TDD36296
gesso
calligraphy pen
some metal embellishments
spray mister black from decoart

I primed the board with gesso and spread some brusho (terracotta, scarlet, and a bit of vermillion) with water on it, but it just wouldn't get red enough; so I spread some distress paint barn door with a palette knife and while still wet I sprinkled some more brusho and water over it. Then I stamped images from the Non Sequitur plate and the chicken wire onto the background with stone gray; sadly one can't really recognise it any more, I just love those stamps to create a background.
A separate piece of watercolour paper was covered with brusho turqoise, sea green, and emerald green to contrast the red. The puzzle pieces were fuzzy cut and adhered to the board, together with some embellishments, after I blotted a bit of black spray mister onto it. Finally the edges were sponged with timber brown.
The sentiment is another attempt at a sort of calligraphy :-)

I hope you like this and please don't miss out our challenge over on the de stempelwinkel challenge blog.
Hugs, Suzanne xx

make your own washi tapes

Do not know about you, but I love washi tapes to use in artjournaling and crafty stuff. But they are not so cheap and do not always come in the color needed. Have the same problem?

Then here we go:

I bought painter´s masking tape (try to get one with less structure on the surface) and adhered it to a cutting mate and coloured with distress paints, sprays and stencils.

there are no limit to your fantasy.

Stamps I have used:

beterschapskaart en verjaardagskaart

Ik heb eerst de tekst gestempeld, daarna met de zwarte sharpie twee lijnen getrokken. De tekst tussen de lijnen met maskerpapier bedekt. Toen de bloemen gestempeld. Masker verwijderen en voila de tekst lijkt erboven te liggen.

I stamped the sentiment first, then i drew two lines with the sharpie. Maskes the sentiment between the lines with masking tape. Then i stamped the flowers. Remove the masking tape é voila the sentiment seems to be on top.

Thanks for stopping by, Mark here. Today I am sharing a little door hanger, I love making these as I love to paint on a wooden surface. grungy mirror frame

Hi all, you faithful followers and passers by ...
It's Suzanne here, sharing an altered I*EA mirror frame..

crackle paste  DMM17
distress paint:
spiced marmalade TH-TDD36463
mustard seed TH-TDD36395
broken china TH-TDD36319
weathered wood  TH-TDD36524
peacock feathers TH-TDD39716
walnut stain TH-TDD36517
stazon inkpads timber brown
and  spiced chai (stazon midi)
water-soluble wax crayons
embossing folders

The frame was primed with black gesso on two opposite edges and with light structure paste on the others. Over the gesso some crackle paste was applied with a palette knife and and into the structure paste embossing folders were pressed.

When dry I painted one half of the frame with a wash of spiced marmalade, mustard seed and the other with broken china, weathered wood, and peacock feathers. Walnut stain distress paint was applied on the crackle paste to highlight the cracks (unfortunately when I wiped it back some of the acrylic paint came off) and some acrylic paint quin gold was applied onto the edges I pressed the folders in.
Then the whole frame was stamped with most of the above-mentioned stamps for a background.
Last Friday I tidied up one of the children's rooms and I found oodles of pieces from incomplete board games. So I thought I could use two cardboard pieces from a ludo (?) game (it's Mensch ärgere Dich nicht in German), applied a thin layer of the structure paste in the hope something of the game print would show through, and also pressed the embossing folders onto them. They were then painted with the same colours as the frame and stamped upon as a background with timber brown. The guy resp. the face were stamped separately with spiced chai, coloured with water-soluble wax crayons, and fussy cut, then glued down. All the edges were finally sponged with the darker brown: spiced chai.

I still have to replace the mirror ... or maybe I'm going to put in something else ... *methinks*

I hope you'll like it a bit and please don't miss our challenge blog with a chance to win a 10€ voucher for de stempelwinkel stamps and products.

Have a great day everyone ....
Hugs, Suzanne
