Steampunk Beauty

Hi all,

today I'm sharing a Steampunk Beauty

supplies used
wings from plate 07 PLATECP07
angel wings CP R503
Steampunk SW D14005
art doll arms FAS P2007

versamark ink pad TS-VM001
original rust OR100G

I discovered the background in my stash of scraps and immediately thought of steampunk. The lady is a chipboard piece as well as the letters.
The wings were heat embossed and fuzzy cut, the word steampunk was heat embossed directly on the card. Finally I rubbed some original rust through a strip of punchinella - done.
I added a kind of fantasy butterfly later with the art doll arms, wire and some foil.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
If you have a few minutes we'd love you to spend them to look for the de stempelwinkel stampers challenge and join in :-)

Have a great day everyone.

Decoart Media Antiquing Cream Tutorial and Tag

Stamps Used:
The Lady is from Burning Hearts NSPL 56
The Rain Drops are from Water Effects Designs By Ryn DBR/UM-42
The Letters are from October Crow SW Q13051
Decoart Antiquing Creams Patina, White, Black. Other colours available.

Morning all, Mark here and as it's the first of the month It's time for a new tutorial post.
I have been working with the  Decoart Antiquing Creams for todays post.
They are a new product and they form part of the Decoart Media Line.
They are a cream designed to give an aged or shaded look to pieces with texture.

I started with some Tando-Creative media boards and ran them through a couple of embossing folders and painting them with Decoart Media Fluids and Misters.

When using the antiquing creams, a little goes a long way. I just squeeze a couple of drops on to the surface and rub it in with my finger, you can use a brush.

Let the cream dry.
The antiquing cream is designed to be reactive with water. This allows you to go in with a wet wipe or a damp non fluffy cloth and wipe away the cream gently from the raised area. Work on a small area at a time, the cream will lossen up and start to move, just wipe with a piece of kitchen towel to remove the cream, repeat this till you like the results.
Its also a very forgiving medium, if you do not like what you have done, you can wipe it all away and start over, or if you have wiped a bit to hard you can just add more cream.

This is with White only.

This is a mix of White and Patina.
As the cream is reactive when wet you need to spray seal the surface before working on the next colour.

This is Black only.

The Antiquing Cream is also great for aging your embellishments

Just paint, let dry and rub the cream away with a kitchen towel.
A piece of Acetate was cut to the shape of the tag and the images were stamped with Black Stazon ink.

For this Background I stamped With Blue archival ink over a Base coat of White acrylic paint.A coat of Gloss varnish was added and anvery thin coat of Decoarts crackle glaze was added in places and left to dry.
Black antiquing cream was added as above and wiped away. It's helped tone down the starkness of the blue and white and the fine cracks have been bought out giving a grubby Chinese porcelain look.

Thanks for stopping by. Stop back tomorrow for soe new inspiration from our DT.

Eye see

SW S14012 - Achtergrond oog
BRWHITE - Brusho wit
BRTURQ - Brusho turquoise
BRGREY - Brusho grijs
033000 - Maskeervloeistof

After stamping the eye I masked the white parts with masking fluid. When that had dried I sprinkled grey, turquoise and white brusho and sprayed with water.
When it's all dry again you can easily rub off the masking fluid.

I stamped the script with versa mark and clear embossed it. Then i went over it with chalks. I thought it was not good enough so i stamped again and white-embossed it. The lady is stamped on tissue paper, cut out and glued down with glossy accents. Also the doilies are glued with glossy accents

Using A Journal Page For ATC's

Stamps Used:
The Fireman is from Hoed SWK12018
The Small Circle Pattern is from Thoughts PlateCP 49
The Large Circle is from Time And Space NSPL46
The Barb Wire and Wire Mesh are from Hardware Findings PlateSW 159
Morning all, Mark here And today I have been using a journal page to create my back grounds for a couple of ATC's.
It can be fairly fiddly working on ATC's, not a lot of space and when blending colours or products like Brusho's where you sprinkle the powder and spritz with water. Much like Jelli Plate prints I find working on a journal page to get the combination of colours and layers a good way of getting the randomness of your colour choice without the ATC looking crowded with detail.

This is the Journal page I started working on, I started with a lime green page that had been coloured with acrylic inks. Once that was dry I used Brusho's sprinkled randomly and then spritzed with water. The opposite page was folded over to absorb the extra water and then the page was heat dried.
Using different colour Archival inks I stamped my images, the star has been stencilled using Decoart fluid acrylics.
I like to use Atc's that have been laser cut from mdf as they are nice and chunky and give a nice solid base, no warping when paint is applied and they will take modelling paste really well.
Using the Atc as a template I traced round and cut then cut the area I wanted out, using Decoarts media matte medium I glued the paper to the surface.
The overhanging paper was trimmed with a craft knife and the edges gently sanded to blend in.
Tim holtz has just bought out a product called Micro Powder I think, It has been around a long time manufactured by someone else and Tim is working with them so Ranger can bring it out.
Its basically a waxy cream that can be used to seal things like distress ink that are water reactive. It also works with things like Brushos.
The benefit of doing this allowed me to varnish the Atc without having to spray seal.
Thanks for stopping by. xxx
If you have time please check out our challenge blog, the theme at the moment is 'Men'
The details can be found at the top of the side bar xx. It would be great to see you over there and you may win yourself a little prize.

Morning all, Mark here and with today being Fathers Day in the Uk I was asked to make a card for my better half's Dad. Sadly mine is no longer with us.
Now I don't do cards but how can I resist Kelly?
I used a 6 inch card blank and Decoart Fluid Acrylics to create my background and stamped my images with archival ink, once dry I coated my card with some satin varnish.
An 8 inch card blank was cut down too size and using red line tape I stuck the decorated piece down.

Rode tag, red tag

I made the background with brusho (red) on glossy paper. I stamped the script with red ink over it. The dressdoll is stamped on tissuepaper and cut out. The ladies are stamped on white paper with black, clear embossed, colored and cut out. The glued all down. I made some shadow with a blach aquarel-pencil and a waterbrush. Washi tape and ribbons for the finishing touch.

It Can't Rain All The Time

Stamps Used:
The Chap is from Mannen 1 PlateSW 113
The Quote is from Halloween 3 PlateSW 161
The Rain Drops are from Designs By Ryn Water Effects DBR/UM-M1
Morning all, Mark here today and I am sharing a wooden plaque decorated using Brusho's for my background.
I started with a thin bit of ply wood cut to size and gessoed to seal the surface.
Once dry I spritzed with water and splashed some brusho across the board, letting the colours bleed a little and then dabbing up with a kitchen roll. I repeated this step several times with different colours till I was happy with the results.
Using archival ink I stamped my images and distressed the edge of the board.
As the Brusho's are reactive with water and I wanted to varnish the board for protection and helping bring the colours out, I used an aerosol sealer first and once dry gave the board a couple of coats of gloss varnish.
Thanks for stopping by. Head back tomorrow to see something new from our DT and if you have some time please check out our challenge blog, the challenges run for two weeks and there are prizes up for grabs.
