glasses case (grungy)

Hi all,
Suzanne here today.
I'm going to get new reading glasses these days and so I thought I could alter a case that I got as a free gift from the optician. For me it's fun and I just want to look the plain case with the boring imprint a little bit better, but maybe it could also be an inspiration for a gift :-)

supplies used
stamps
eyes FAS Q0110
eyetest FAS P0106
stamps from plate 77 'the face is the Icon ...' NSPL77

others
gesso
decoart media modeling paste DMM21-71
decoart media ultra matte varnish DMM24-71
distress paint fossilized amber
and rusty hinge
original rust OR100G
stazon inkpad jet black
and stone grey
decoart media antiquing cream raw umber DMM151-26
decoart chalk paint escape
acrylic paint
stencils with numbers and letters

First I primed the case with white gesso on one and black on the other side, followed by chalk paint resp. rusty hinge.
So first for the rusty hinge: it was stamped with images from plate 77 and the eyes, then sealed with matte varnish. Then came a coat of grey acrylic paint and distress paint fossilized amber. The eyetest was stamped and the paint was wiped back with alcohol in some areas. A coat of antiquing cream was applied and also wiped back.
On the blue (down)side I stencilled some numbers and letters with modeling paste, added a wash of quin gold, one of original rust and sanded everything back a bit.
Finally all the edges were sponged with stazon timber brown.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
Hugs, Suzanne xx

Lovely! They look so much better than the original, without showing it I know how ugly the "free gift" cases are. It's a pleasure to look at it, and a piece of art that you can leave on the table without getting angry remarks that you are messing up your house! LOL
